Reverse Image Search Mobile:
A great feature of Google is the possibility of using an image to search, instead of just limiting yourself to words: it is what is called inverse image search: instead of using text to find images, you use images to find text. . or other images.
Reverse image search takes several years between us. Still, in all this time no one in Google has thought of including it in the web version of Google or the Google application: officially it does not exist on Android, but there are methods to do reverse image searches from Android.
Option 1: from Google
The web version of Google does not include reverse image search, but Desktop. The trick is to open the image search in Google Chrome, open the Chrome options menu and choose Website for the computer to force the loading of the standard version, for Desktop.
Everything looks smaller, and you will probably have to zoom, but you will see that the camera icon has reappeared. In Android it will be (almost) impossible to drag an image to the search engine, so you have two options: either you search from the web address of the image, or you upload the image. This is the only option you should use if you want to find an image that you have saved on your mobile.
The list of applications that Google Chrome suggests with which you can upload the file is a bit quirky, joining the voice recorder and the camera. It is best to choose Documents because from here you can find any image stored on your mobile.
Select an image you want to use in your search, and it will be uploaded and searched automatically. The result is variable, although in this case, it worked quite well: I searched for a screenshot of Run, Sausage, Run, and the third link is to its tab in Google Play. The specific downside of this method is that everything looks a bit small, so you should not zoom in to read the results.
Option 2: with an application
If you expect that you will use reverse image search quite frequently, then you are interested in using a specialized form designed to make your task easier, such as Image Search. With it, you can do reverse image searches more quickly, and using the Android Share function.
Android version: from 4.0.3
Download it at Google Play
The application itself is quite simple, although if you want you can make a few adjustments in the configuration, as if you want the results to be displayed in the browser or Custom Chrome tabs or if you want to use a regional version of Google. The default settings work fine, so you need to click on the floating icon to upload the image you want to search.
Before performing the search, a small tab is displayed where you can adjust options or choose the search engine. You generally don’t need to touch anything here, so press Start upload to upload the image and receive the results in a version of Google images that, unlike the previous method, is optimized for mobile.
The best thing about Image Search is that you can share an image from the Android share menu to search on Google. Otherwise, the steps are the same as in the previous case: a window with settings and then the results window.
